Elephant head, rare white variation; Pedicularis groenlandica

Many years ago I saw a white elephant head near Loveland Pass. I returned many times, but never saw them again. Then, amazingly, in July of 2019 I found a large batch in a damp meadow not far from my house. They have returned, in quantity, every year since then.

And in July 2022 Matt Wentz and Katie Kreisel spotted a two-toned elephant head that is very striking. This is in Brown Gulch off Tiger Road in Breckenridge.
