2026 Colorado Hiking

July 9. Boreas Mountain with Elke Dratch.

July 10. Mt. Rosalie with David Blakeslee and Janet Jacks.

July 14. Blarney Peak (Independence Pass) and down to Blue Lake, with Matt Cary.

July 22. Vail Pass to Frisco via Uneva Pass, with Katie Larson.

August 1. Peak 13220 near head of North Lake Creek, with Bob Portmann and Matt Cary.

August 5. No Name from Loveland Pass, and several bumps north. Descent to Porcupine Creek trailhead, with Katie Larson.

August 10. Uneva Peak via Flat Pass, with Elke Dratch.

August 16. Buckeye Peak with Katie Larson. Clockwise loop from Mt. Zion trail.

September 3. Grizzly A (13997 feet; LiDar reading) and then easy and beautiful traverse to Mt. Garfield (13757 feet). Total climb of 3350 feet. 8 miles. 8.7 hours. With Katie, Elke, and Matt. Really beautiful route, starting from 11400 feet in McNasser Gulch.

September 11. Dry Creek to near summit of the Citadel (aka Snoopy; 13303 feet). We tried a steep couloir up Snoopy’s belly, but I had to back off an exposed fifth class move, and retreated, while the others carried on over this peak and Hagar. With Katie Larson and Robin Ackermann. 7.3 miles, 2800 feet climb, 6 hours.

September 20. A 7+ mile loop from the Lime Creek Rd up and west over the “football field” and then up to a road network to a high ridge towards Battle Mountain summit. Just before that summit (Vail Ski Area) we headed back down through great meadows to the Lime Creek Road, and walked the road back to the cars at Turkey Creek Road. With Katie Larson, Ben McShan, Amanda Smith, Elke Dratch, and Bob Portmann. 2700 feet climb.
